See if this is familiar on some level: The head coach walks on the practice floor and sees players standing around. Some are casually dribbling a ball while conversing with a small group of teammates; several other players are hanging around at half court clowning each other; a few others are launching trick shots on a side basket; and a couple of the more serious players actually do attempt to get some shots up as the final two trickle on the court, hoping the coach doesn’t notice they’re a little bit late.
I see 3 problems here that need to be addressed:
1. The head coach is going to have a hard time getting this practice off to a focused start.
2. Getting to practice on time is a problem for some of the players.
3. Players (and coaches) are wasting time that could be spent getting thousands of shots
up.
