I spent half my high school coaching career running a 4 out, 1 in fast break system, and the other half running a 5 out fast break system. I liked both systems but preferred the 5 out system overall. I thought the 4 out system was better for quick strike attacks before the defense was set up, and I thought the 5 out system was fantastic for flowing an organized break directly into halfcourt offense.
