This guide won’t completely solve any playbook bloating issues, but it can
contribute towards a reduced and more efficient playbook.
Another reason I love these concepts is that they can be used at times when
you’re unsure of what to call.
Often times, opposing coaches will change defenses during a timeout or between quarters. So these plays are great to call in those moments because whether the defense comes out in man-to-man or zone defense, your call will likely work. No more calling a play in the huddle, recognizing the defense has changed, and scrambling to amend the play call.
